The earlier committee (convening committee) was formed on 10th April 2010 when Mr. Santu Larma convened the 9th national conference (29-31 March 2010) in sheer violation of the party constitution and excluded a few hundred veteran leaders and members and also "formally" expelled 7 top veteran leaders (Chandra Sekhar Chakma, Sudhasindhu Khisa, Rupayan Dewan, Tatindra Lal Chakma, Eng. Mrinal Kanti Tripura, Advocate Shaktiman Chakma and Binoy Krishna Khisa) and also declared their capital punishment. The present leadership is determined to democratise the JSS under a collective leadership.

Gunmen on Sunday night killed a leader of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti and injured a party activist in Rajsthali upazila in Rangamati, just three days after similar killings at Jurachhari of the district.
The JSS blamed their rival United People’s Democratic Front for the killing of Usinu Marma, organising secretary of its Gainda union unit, and went out on protest demonstrations in Rangamati town on Monday. UPDF denied the charge.
Police and witnesses said the assailants opened fire on the members of Pahari Chhatra Parishad, loyal to the Santu Larma-led JSS, when they were preparing for going to bed at the office of Rajsthali Krira O Sangskritik Sangha at Rajsthali market at around 10:45pm.
Usinu died on the spot being hit by bullet in the head and Pahari Chhatra Parishad activist Ubaising Marma sustained bullet wounds in the leg, police said.
Ubaising was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital after his condition deteriorated at Rajsthali health complex.
Police recovered seven spent shells from the spot. A murder case was lodged with Rajsthali police in connection with the killing, said officer-in-charge Rezaul Karim.
The district unit JSS, meantime, went out on protest demonstrations in the district town. They brought out a procession and marched towards the deputy commissioner’s office.
At an impromptu rally there, the party’s vice-president Laksmiprasad Chakma said a group of UPDF activists led by Kalaiye Chakma alias Diamond had killed Usinu. Leaders of the organisation demanded immediate arrest and trial of the culprits and a ban on the UPDF.
The UPDF’s Rangamati unit leader, Michael Chakma, denied the JSS claims and said the killing resulted from internal feud of JSS.
‘The Santu Larma-led JSS has unleashed a reign of terror in the area and indulged in extortion and abduction. They occupied the office of UPDF at Rajsthali. The killing was a sequel to their internal row over share of extortion money,’ he claimed saying that his party was not involved in such incidents and that there was no activist named Kalaiye Chakma alias Diamond in the UPDF.
On May 14, two activists of JSS were killed at Chota Panchhari of Jurachhari. Three activists of UPDF had also been killed in Jurachhari in March, April and May this year.
