PCJSS/JSS key persons:
Sudha Sindhu Khisa, President/ Rupayan Dewan, Vice President,/Tatindra Lal Chakma, General Secretary/. Responsibility shouldered on 11 July 2013.

Background: The present central committee was elected on 11 July 2013, on the 2nd day of the 3-day long 10th PCJSS national conference. The earlier committee (convening committee) was formed on 10th April 2010 when Mr. Santu Larma convened the 9th national conference (29-31 March 2010) in sheer violation of the party constitution and excluded a few hundred veteran leaders and members and also "formally" expelled 7 top veteran leaders (Chandra Sekhar Chakma, Sudhasindhu Khisa, Rupayan Dewan, Tatindra Lal Chakma, Eng. Mrinal Kanti Tripura, Advocate Shaktiman Chakma and Binoy Krishna Khisa) and also declared their capital punishment. The present leadership is determined to democratise the JSS under a collective leadership.

Pro-CHT Accord Armed Group again tries to abduct civilians while the Dhudukchara BDR personnel remain as onlookers

The pro-CHT accord armed group again came to Dhudukchara yesterday and tried to abduct Mr. Kalijoy Chakma, 50 yrs from his home at 21.00 hrs. He is an innocent civilian and has no any political connection with any party. The armed group also tried to round up Mr. Mangal Jyoti Chakma, 35 years from the same village but also failed. He is a civilian who quitted UPDF 2/3 years ago. The group also fired 2 rounds to terrorise the people.

The villagers of Dhudukchara contacted the nearby Dhudukchara BDR camp yesterday for help but they did not take any notice. When the commanding officer of Panchari BDR camp was contacted then the Dhudukchara BDR camp sent a patrol party which was just an eye wash, a villager of Dhudukchara tells the CHT voice today. This person alleges that the BDR did not do any action though the pro-CHT accord armed group has been staying the whole day at Barthal today, close to Rupasen member Para of Dhudukchara area (which is about one mile north of Dhudukchara BDR camp).

It has been learnt that Mitra Babu (Sushil Prashad Chakma, Baghaichari village, Dighinala Upazila, ex-president of JSS, Dighinala Thana Committee) who took shelter in India during the state emergency, after an abortive attempt to kill Naresh Chandra Chakma, his own party comrade. Naresh some how survived after critical head injuries. So long Mitra Babu did not return to the CHT and now he has started patronising the pro-CHT accord armed group in India. His family is based in Agartala, the capital of Tripura State.
