PCJSS/JSS key persons:
Sudha Sindhu Khisa, President/ Rupayan Dewan, Vice President,/Tatindra Lal Chakma, General Secretary/. Responsibility shouldered on 11 July 2013.

Background: The present central committee was elected on 11 July 2013, on the 2nd day of the 3-day long 10th PCJSS national conference. The earlier committee (convening committee) was formed on 10th April 2010 when Mr. Santu Larma convened the 9th national conference (29-31 March 2010) in sheer violation of the party constitution and excluded a few hundred veteran leaders and members and also "formally" expelled 7 top veteran leaders (Chandra Sekhar Chakma, Sudhasindhu Khisa, Rupayan Dewan, Tatindra Lal Chakma, Eng. Mrinal Kanti Tripura, Advocate Shaktiman Chakma and Binoy Krishna Khisa) and also declared their capital punishment. The present leadership is determined to democratise the JSS under a collective leadership.

BGB member succumbs critical injury at Nareichari

In an ambush laid by a pro-CHT accord group at Ahjachara Duar, some 1.5 km north of Nareichari bazaar today at around 8am a Border Guard Bangladesh (former BDR) member, Aminul Islam, has been critically injured and flown by chopper for treatment. The spot falls near Nareichari in Babuchara Union, under Dighinala Upazila in Khagarachari Hill District of the CHT region.

This pro-CHT accord armed group comes close to the north of Nareichari Bazar every Tuesday (market day) to bar the local Jummas so that they can’t go to the market. For this purpose, they every week, prior to market day, create some situations- make blank fires, arrest Jummas or interrogate them to make them frightened. This is being done as a tactic so that they cannot go to the market and pass on information to the anti-CHT accord armed group, what they suspect.

Referring to the local people of Nareichari a source from Dighinala tells the CHT Voice that the Indu group sent a letter to the BGB’s Border Out Post of Nareichari after the 26th January 2011 clash so that the BGB abstains from disturbing them when they attack the anti-CHT accord armed group, otherwise faces serious consequences. The CHT Voice wrote in its post on 27th January “Both groups did not cross the river and vacated the place when BGB personnel reached there.” (http://chtvoice.blogspot.com/2011/01/pro-accord-and-anti-accord-groups-lock.html) Today was the weekly market and as routine the Indu group took position for barring the public like before. They saw the BGB group advancing towards their position and opened fire at once.

Radio Amader, a Dhaka based private FM radio station broadcast in its 3pm news bulletin today that when the UPDF and JSS were engaged in exchange of fires a member of BGB got serious injury. The fight exhausted more than 100 ammos.

Commander Indu brought the upper part of Nareichari under his control in last May and since then there have been 3 gun fights with the anti-CHT accord armed group on 8 March and 26 Jan in 2011 and on 20th Nov 2010.

This group infiltrated in Rashyabari Police Station area of Dhalai District of Tripura State and abducted 2 innocent Jummas on 25th Oct 2010 from Dhudukchara under Panchari Upazila of Khagarachari Hill District under the CHT region of Bangladesh and took them to Dambur lake area in India and realized cash 650,000 BD taka as ransom on 29 October.
