Rashed Khan Menon MP claims, according to Prime Minister (Hasina), Bangalis are the original inhabitants of CHT

Mr. Rashed Khan Menon M.P., Chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on the indigenous peoples fears that the CHT may go to its past state which had before signing the CHT Accord 1997. He expressed his concern at a seminar at CIRDAP auditorium in the capital organised today on the indigenous land rights and international day of the world's indigenous peoples.

According to Mr. Menon, there has been no development of the CHT land problem, as a result instability continues in the CHT region.

Mr. Menon further speaks on the indigenous terminology and claims, "The prime minister (Hasina) herself claims the Bengalis are the original inhabitants of the region (CHT), I personally listened." Mr. Menon claims that with the advice of the DGFI (Directorate General Forces Intelligence) the foreign ministry argued, if the indigenous term is accepted then many international obligations have to be shouldered and it would ultimately lead to a cessation. These all  have been done just to justify the presence of military in the CHT, Mr. Menon says.
