Sudha Sindhu Khisa narrowly escapes from sure killing

Mr. Sudha Sindhu Khisa

Mr. Sudha Sindhu Khisa, JSS president and an independent candidate for 299 Rangamati constituency in the ensuing 10th parliamentary election has narrowly escaped from bullet-hits fired at by an illegal armed group loyal to Mr. Santu Larma, CHT Regional Council chair and the JSS (Santu) president.  The attack was conducted at Langadu Punarbashan Para under Rajasthali Upazila in Rangamati Hill District on Rajasthali-Bangalhalia road on 24th instant when Mr.Khisa was returning to Rangamti district town after his election campaign.

Mr. Khisa and his five entourages, 3-ploicemen and the driver were unhurt. Soon after the attack they took shelter at nearby Islampur Ansar Camp (known as No. 5 camp), about 8-km away from Rajasthali town. The Officer In-Charge of Rajasthali Police Station and a Major of Bangladsh Army from Rajasthali army camp rushed to Mr. Khisa and visited the spot. After 2 hours stay at the Ansar camp they left for Rangamati at 2.10 PM.

The micro-bus received 2 bullet hits, one on the left window glass and another on the left tail-light. It has been gathered that the ambush was laid by a group which was camped at Gaindya village. Mr. Subarna Chakma, a district level cadre of Santu Larma-led JSS and also a JSS returnee (son of late Amrita Lal Chakma, home at Tabalchari, close to Rangamati Kotwali Police Station) arrived at Rajasthali in the morning of 24th instant and contacted the armed group and then the ambush was`laid to kill Mr. Khisa.

Below is seen the bullet-hit window glass (left side) of the micro-bus with the sign of a large hole and cracks. The motive of the killing attempt is to silence the holders of second opinion in the CHT and election contestant, in favour of Mr. Ushatan Talukdar, JSS (Santu) candidate in the ensuing general election.
